At long last the goal in sight, hearts quicken, minds brighten and feet feel a little lighter. The relief of arriving, the pride of completing the journey and the comforting sensation of just being home ameliorate the angst and anguish previously experienced. Whether “home” be a house, a room, a chair, a meadow, a valley, a mountain that sanctuary holds a grounding and centering power that can be revisited as needed to revitalize the adventure of life.

Perspective. Finding it, changing it, replacing it is all that’s needed to find the fascination and beauty in any object or situation. Light falling through a window, sparks shooting from the welder’s tip and circuitry in a PCB. All fairly commonplace, yet magnificent and captivating with the correct perspective.

David recently reached his one year birthday and has enjoyed every celebratory day as much as any other day. He is filled with immense amounts of love and joy which he radiate to all those around him. He is fully engaged, enjoying every moment of just being.

Two captures of a short lived sunrise in my paradise. The cloud cover thickened and left the sun out of the fun for the rest of the day. I felt blessed to witness the beauty of the morning before the relentless winds whipped it away for the rest of the gray day.

Taryn’s Dance

This is one of my favorite manipulations I’ve done, likely due in part to having my daughter as the main subject. It was finished May 2009. In the original photo, she was reaching up to take the hand of one of her grandmothers. I placed her on a dark forest road to contrast with the innocence of a dancing, flower-holding young girl incognizant of the mysteries awaiting her.
